Moorefield The village of Moorefield was platted in 1815 on a high ridge which gives it a commanding view of the surrounding
country. The village reached the peak of its population prior
to the Civil War era at a time when it was on a road that was being
surveyed to become a national road. It has the reputation of
having sent more men to the Civil War than any other village with
the same population in the state. The building of the railroad
and growth of other villages in the county relegated Moorefield to
little more than a footnote. However, the community minded
citizenry have kept the village going and the area is home
to the Moorefield Township buildings, a civic park, church and
Volunteer Fire Department. An historic marker is located at
the village corporation limit that tells of the night when Morgan's
Raiders traveled through Moorefield.Amenities: Moore Park, Community Hall Churches: Faith Baptist Church |

In the late 1940s, the Ohio Historical Society erected a memorial to
General George A. Armstrong in the center of the town. The
Custer Memorial Foundation oversees both the memorial and a museum
that is housed in the former Methodist Church. Several events
are held in the town to commemorate the historical significance of
the General.Amenities: General George A. Custer Memorial and Museum Annual Festival: Custer Day - 1st Saturday in June, Custer Birthday Celebration - 1st Saturday in December Churches: New Rumley United Methodist Church |

Indiana. The name Tippecanoe was adopted by the village in
honor of the successful candidate. |
